FAQ

Do you do in-person sessions?
Not right now – I use technology’s ingenuity to connect with my clients.
Does online therapy work?

Yes, it does. Online therapy is as effective as in-person psychotherapy and more convenient for my clients. My personal experience with clients and large-scale research studies have shown this.

I recommend building your therapy session with other self-care activities, including walks, runs, and baths. I had a client who got ice cream for herself after every session – and I strongly approve of ice cream. Make it a ‘me’ morning, afternoon, or evening as you let the treatment start to work.

What are your hours?
I am flexible and work between 7 am and 10 pm.
Do you accept insurance?

I accept insurance from the following providers: Aetna, Cigna, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum, Oscar Health, Oxford, and United Health Care.

What types of problems do you address?

I see clients struggling with a variety of issues. Some struggles I address include mood disorders (depression, bipolar), anxiety, eating disorders, relationship issues, loss, life transitions, personality disorders, and divorce.

How do I schedule a first session?

Please pick up the phone and call, text, or email me. You also can fill in the contact form. The first step is to schedule an initial free 15-minute consultation.

In this consultation, I will explore why you contacted me and if and how I can help you. If I can help you, I will arrange a first session and discuss the schedule, fee, insurance, etc.

So, why should I call you?
Do you want to grow as a person? Do you want to be happier? Do you want someone in your corner, no matter what?
How do I prepare for telehealth sessions?
Make sure you are in a safe, comfortable, and private space. You should not have to worry if someone can hear you speak. Make certain audio and video are in working order.
What is your cancellation policy?

We arrange a weekly time that works for both of us. This time is yours. If you must cancel an appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. If you fail to honor this timeline, I will charge you the full fee for the session. However, I am flexible when it comes to rescheduling. If I have an opening, I will book you another time that same week.

What age group do you treat?
I work with clients 17+ years of age.
What’s your educational background?

I studied Social Work at Hunter College in NYC. I’m an LCSW and have trained at the ICP (Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy) in the eating disorder program. I am also an expert in using DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) for the benefit of my patients. I use a very integrated method of working with people.

Do you like this work, and if so, for heaven’s sake, why?

Yes, I love what I do. I am interested in people and believe people deserve happy, meaningful lives. I am grateful for the opportunity to play a role in making that happen.

I love the connection with my patients and have a special bond with each of them. The relationship between a person and their therapist is unique, and I cherish it. I am proud to see people grow and take control of their lives. Each relationship is an adventure.

Will there be lots of crying?

Crying is optional. So are laughter, skepticism, curiosity, anger, and fear. I welcome it all.

Does your dog Muddles participate in the treatment?

Muddles can sometimes appear during sessions, intentionally or entirely by accident (or so he says).

What sort of dog is Muddles, and does he like telehealth?

He’s a mix of a Jack Russell terrier and a dachshund. He’s very goofy, so his sessions consist primarily of him looking for his tennis ball and pork chomp. If you also have a dog, then therapy might involve wagging tails.
